Parkland High School DECA Competition Participants

Parkland High School is beaming with pride following an incredible performance by our DECA chapter! On Friday, January 9th, 13 of our most ambitious students traveled to compete against the best young business minds in the region.

We are thrilled to announce that seven of those students have officially qualified for the State Career Development Conference! These talented individuals will be heading to Dallas, TX, from February 19–21 to represent Parkland on the state stage.

Excellence in Leadership

This success was made possible under the dedicated leadership of Marcia Sonora, Parkland’s Marketing Practicum Teacher and DECA Advisor. Her mentorship and commitment to these students ensured they were prepared to face rigorous business simulations and complex written projects with confidence.

The Road to Dallas

Out of a competitive field, over half of our participating Matadors secured their spot for the next round. This achievement highlights the dedication, professionalism, and "entrepreneurial spirit" that Parkland High School strives to instill in every student.

A Record-Breaking Effort

While only seven are moving on to Dallas, we want to recognize all 13 competitors who represented Parkland last Friday. The preparation for these events—ranging from complex 20-page business plans to high-pressure role-play simulations—requires months of hard work outside of regular school hours.

"Our students showed up with confidence and a level of professionalism that truly set them apart. Seeing seven of them advance to State is a testament to their work ethic and the strength of our CTE programs."

Good luck in Dallas, Matadors! We are all rooting for you!
